Barbara Atwiine,

BoD Liberia

  • Ms. Atwiine works in HIV/AIDS programming and has extensive experience in this field in both Uganda and Liberia. She is currently affiliated with Youth Alive Liberia.

Beatrice Benicks

BoD Liberia

  • Beatrice Benicks is a Liberian and senior pastor of Grace Agape Church in Monrovia. Her work involves counseling to women and families.

Barbara Burke

MD, MPH, BoD U.S.

  • Barbara earned her M.D. in 1984 from Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed her residency in emergency medicine at the Christiana Health System Medical Center of Delaware, and studied international health and epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning her master's in public health there in 2002. She has served with Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) in South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Angola, Gaza, Pakistan, Nigeria and Kenya, and with the International Rescue Committee in Kolahun, Liberia. Barbara is a co-founder of Restore Hope: Liberia.

 

Bakhtavar Desai

CPA, BoD U.S.

  • Bakhtavar is a CPA working freelance as auditor and consultant in the public sector and not-for-profits. Her expertise is auditing government grants and consulting on governmental grants program management. She was born and raised in India, where she received two degrees, Bachelors in Commerce and Bachelor in Arts. She is a trustee on the Board of the Fairfield Food Pantry. She is President of ZAKOI (Zoroastrian Association of KY, OH, & IN. Bakhtavar is also active in volunteering within her local school district.

Jerry Kerkula,

NP, BoD Liberia

  • A nurse practitioner with experience in local governance and traditional leadership in Liberia. He was a town chief in one of the rural towns in Lofa County. He is currently working at the Tuberculosis Hospital in Monrovia.

Darlington Martor

MA, BoD, U.S.

  • Darlington holds a master’s degree in International Studies with a concentration in International Business from Concordia University in California. Born in Liberia during the early years of the civil war, Darlington and his mother escaped the atroci2es there and became refugees in Danane, Ivory Coast, in 1997. They then moved to the United States in 2003, sponsored by a United Na2ons resettlement program. Darlington is founder and CEO of Anything Is Everything, a non-profit organization, and also works Grants Administrator at the James Irvine Foundation.

 

Adelphine Moore

RN, BoD Liberia

  • A Liberian registered nurse, Ms. Moore was instrumental in the registration of Restore Hope: Liberia and has a background in financial management and accounting.

David Okiror,

MD, BoD Liberia

  • Dr. Okiror earned his degrees in medicine and surgery in Uganda, where he’s from, and continued his postgraduate studies in gynecology, pediatrics and public health. He also holds degrees in tropical medicine and public health. He has worked in Liberia since 2008. He is a family physician and Chair of the Faculty of Family Medicine at ELWA Hospital.

Bob Rufsvold,

MD, BoD U.S.

  • Dr. Bob received his M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School in 1979 and completed his family practice residency at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in California. He was a solo-practice family physician for 20 years. He founded and directed the New England Center for Integrative Health, the Wellspring Foundation of New England, and the Wellspring Cancer Help Program. He was also faculty at Dartmouth Medical School for many years. Since 2006, Dr. Bob has worked in global health serving in Liberia, Ethiopia, Chad, Afghanistan, and Libya with Médecins Sans Frontières, the International Medical Corps, and the International Rescue Committee. He is a co-founder of RESTORE HOPE: LIBERIA.

Ousman Sey

MBA, CG (ASCP), BoD U.S.

  • Ousman began his community development work with the Department of Livestock Services as an extension worker in his native country, The Gambia. He moved to the U.S. in 2000 to pursue his Biotechnology degree and later specialized in Cytogenetics and cancer diagnostics. In 2016, Ousman joined the Peace Corps and served in Kolahun District, Liberia. In 2022, Ousman was invited to join the Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot Program. He created a community of practice forum for organizations participating in the PEPFAR program in South Africa. Ousman works at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Pathology laboratory in Boston.

Vaifee A. Tulay, M,

BoD Liberia

  • The Honorable Mr. Vaifee Tulay is the Deputy Health Minister for Planning and Research Development. He holds a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Mr. Tulay has served with the Ministry of Health since 2008.

 

Saundra Williams

CEO, BoD, U.S.

  • Saundra earned Master of Public Health and Master of International Affairs degrees in 2009 from Columbia University in New York, with a focus on health in complex emergencies. Prior to that she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Turkmenistan. Her work in global health has spanned field missions in West Darfur, Sudan, eastern Chad, and Sierra Leone on the Ebola response, as well as at the International Rescue Committee headquarters on the global Emergency Response and Preparedness Unit. She is a co-founder of RESTORE HOPE: LIBERIA.
